Clifford Woodrow Krogstad, 88, Fertile, MN, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, MN. He was born on April 4, 1923, on a farm near Rindal, Minnesota, to Richard and Anna (Noto) Krogstad. He attended rural school near his home and graduated from the Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1941.
On June 5, 1949, Cliff was united in marriage to Jean Ystenes at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal. Cliff farmed with his father and brother, Art, all his life. In the early 1960’s, Cliff began his dairy operation, building a “state of the art” milk parlor. He continued to operate the dairy farm until the late 1980’s, when he switched to beef cattle. Cliff suffered a stroke that forced him to retire from farming in 1997.
As a member of Faaberg Lutheran Church, Cliff expressed his personal and public faith in Jesus as an active and vibrant member of the church. He enjoyed joking and laughing, especially with family. Cliff had a gentle and tender spirit that revealed itself in the love he had for his family, in particular, his wife, Jean.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Jean, Rindal; six children, 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Don and his wife, Robin and their children: Jolyne and Paula, Kalispell, MT; Gloria Halland and her husband, Bruce and their children: Amber Bibelheimer and her husband, Mike and Ashley, Fargo, ND; Darlene Nephew and her husband, Dennis, and their children: Jeremy Wesley and his wife, Tracy and Chris, Moorhead, MN; Rick and his wife, Vicki, and their children: Erin Thompson and her husband, Andrew, and their children: Isaac, Amelia, and Ava, Amy Andersen and her husband, Nate, and their children: Maggie and Grant, Fertile; Karen Schott and her husband, Jim, and their daughter, Jamie, Fargo, ND; Dennis and his wife, Lynn, and their children: Nathan, Nick, and Luke, Savage, MN; one sister, Doris Swenson, Lindsborg, KS; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Earl and Art.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Faaberg Lutheran Church, rural Fertile, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the church.
Burial will be at Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery.
