Victoria “Vicki” Mae Koelling, 68, of rural Fertile, MN, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN. Vicki was born in Crookston, MN to Alvin and Jean (Vickery) Koelling on October 4, 1944. She grew in rural Fertile and graduated from the Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1962, as the Valedictorian student for her class. She attended a year of college at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. In the summer of 1963, Vicki was employed for the summer at Bemis Corporation in St. Paul, MN. She enjoyed her job and decided to continue on full time. Vicki was employed as a Lab Tech for 28 years at Bemis. The company was sold and Vicki gained employment with 3 M as a Lab Supervisor until she retired at the age of 62. Vicki always enjoyed coming home to the family farm in rural Fertile for weekends and holidays. After she retired, Vicki stayed with her father for longer periods, especially in the summer months. Alvin passed away in 2007, and Vicki lived at the house most of the time. Vicki was a quiet and independent person who enjoyed time alone observing nature. Reading novels and knitting kept her busy during her free time. She was a great rummage saler and expert “deal” shopper. Vicki had three cats who kept her company. Vicki is survived by her brother, David (JoAnn) Koelling, Fertile; one nephew, Tim (Melissa) Fertile; and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 10:30 AM in the Maple Lake Lutheran Church, rural Fertile, MN.
Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.
Burial will be in the Maple Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fertile, MN.
